Privacy Policy

NOLIBAB (the "Service") is operated by NOLIBAB ("we," "us," or "our"). We built NOLIBAB so that every person can speak their own language and be understood in theirs. Privacy is a product feature, not boilerplate.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, the choices you have, and the safeguards we apply. By using NOLIBAB, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide

• Account information: email address (for login) and the display name you choose.
• Profile preferences: your preferred display language, locale, timezone, age/safety classification, optional avatar, and an optional public handle (@nolibab_handle).
• Messages: the text and voice messages you send within conversations, including their detected language.
• Invitations: when you create a share or invite link, we store the link token and its status.

Information from guests

NOLIBAB lets people join a conversation through an invite link without creating an account. For guests we store a secure session token, the display name (optional), the chosen language/locale, and the invite that admitted them. Guests can later claim their session into a registered account if they choose.

Information generated automatically

• Translations: translations of messages into each participant's preferred language, so conversation partners can read in their own language.
• Usage metadata: timestamps, conversation membership, last-read positions, and language-detection results.
• Device information: if you enable notifications, a device token and platform type (web, iOS, Android).
• Technical data: IP address, browser type, and similar standard access data processed for security and abuse prevention.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to provide, maintain, and improve NOLIBAB:

• To operate automatic, real-time translation so participants understand each other in their own language.
• To deliver your messages and voice notes to conversation participants.
• To generate smart-reply suggestions in your preferred language (you can switch this off in Settings).
• To show conversation previews, unread hints, and last-message context on your conversation list.
• To send you notifications about new messages, when enabled.
• To enforce blocks, handle reports, and prevent spam or abuse.
• To maintain the security, integrity, and availability of the Service.
• To comply with our legal obligations.

3. How Translation Works

NOLIBAB performs automatic translation at the presentation layer. Your original message is preserved as the source of truth; recipients see a translation into their preferred language.

To produce translations, your message text is processed by a language model on our behalf. Because translation requires automated message processing, NOLIBAB does notprovide end-to-end encryption while translation is active. Messages are transmitted over encrypted transport (HTTPS/TLS) and stored securely. We are honest about this trade-off -- it is the cost of instant, invisible translation.

Translation providers are used solely to produce translations, not to build profiles of you for advertising. The specific provider may change over time; we apply a provider-independent abstraction so your experience stays consistent.

4. What We Do Not Do

• We do not use your private message content for advertising.
• We do not train our models on your private message content.
• We do not sell your conversations or your personal data.
• We do not share your messages with third parties for their own promotional purposes.

5. How We Share Information

We share information only as described here:

• With conversation participants: the messages and voice notes you send are visible to the other participants in that conversation, translated into their preferred language.
• With service providers: the translation provider, hosting infrastructure, and notification delivery providers that help us operate the Service, under agreements that require confidentiality and limit use to providing the service.
• For safety and legal reasons: when we investigate abuse reports, enforce blocks, or respond to valid legal requests.
• Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, with notice to you.

6. Data Retention

We keep your information only as long as needed for the purposes in this policy. Messages and translations are retained while a conversation is active and for a limited period afterward to let participants reopen and search their history. Guest content is retained according to a session-expiry policy and may be deleted or anonymized unless a guest session is claimed into an account. You can delete your account and associated data at any time from Settings or by requesting deletion.

7. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards: encrypted transport (TLS), access controls, and per-user data isolation so that one user cannot read another's conversations. No method of storage or transmission is fully secure, but we work to protect your information and continuously review our practices.

8. Your Rights and Controls

You are always in control. From within the app you can:

• Set or change your preferred display language anytime in Settings.
• Turn personalized smart replies on or off; clear your learned communication profile.
• Block users from contacting you and manage your block list.
• Report abusive or inappropriate messages.
• Enable or disable push notifications.
• Delete individual messages you sent.
• Delete your account and associated personal data -- fully, in Settings or without the app on request.

Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, export, or restrict the processing of your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 12.

9. International Data Transfers

NOLIBAB and its service providers may process and store your information in countries other than your own. When we do, we rely on appropriate safeguards and apply protections consistent with this policy.

10. Age Eligibility & Teen Safety

NOLIBAB is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not permit users under 13 to create an account, join a conversation, or use the Service. We ask users to confirm an age band so we can apply the appropriate safety settings.

For users aged 13–17, NOLIBAB automatically activates enhanced safety mode, which filters content that may be unsafe -- including sharing of contact information, grooming, sexual content, and self-harm -- in both directions within a conversation. We do not use teen users' personal information for targeted advertising, behavioral profiling, or any purpose beyond providing and protecting the Service.

11. Cookies, Analytics, and Advertising

We use minimal analytics to understand how the Service performs (for example, counting feature usage events). We do not use your private message content for analytics. We do not serve interest-based advertising based on your conversations. If we ever introduce advertising or third-party analytics SDKs, we will update this policy and disclose it here before doing so.

12. Changes to This Policy & Contact

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify you within the app. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
